At Best Choice Rehabilitation, we have designed our treatment program to be individualized and comprehensive, setting personal goals at each phase of the program. We understand that no single treatment track, or belief system will will apply to every person, therefore we offer several modalities of treatment, relating to the belief systems and person preferences of each individual. Each part of our treatment program is uniquely designed to heal the mind, body, and spirit, and take each person on his or her path toward self awareness, communication, empowerment, and ultimately sobriety.
No Time Constraints
The single most important differentiation between Best Choice Rehabilitation and most other addiction treatment centers is the fact that we do not place any limits or constraints on the time it takes any person to complete the program and truly be prepared for life outside of the facility. We understand that there is much more to addiction treatment than simply getting off drugs. The removal of drugs is only the beginning of the journey to sobriety, and there is no set period of time within which everyone can be expected to complete that journey, and be fully prepared for a sober life outside the treatment walls.
Detoxification and Cleansing
Although they may seem to have the same meaning, the detoxification and cleansing processes at Best Choice Rehabilitation are completely separate phases of treatment with different methods and goals
The detoxification process is getting the individual off of physically addictive drugs like alcohol, opiates, heroin, and benzodiazepines. During this process, we are solely focused on freeing the body of addictive drugs, and this process can last anywhere from 3-14 days, depending on the drug and the person’s physical health. While undergoing detox, individuals are given vitamin therapy to help replenish lost nutrients and facilitate the body’s ability to recover from the physical traumas of drug abuse.
The cleansing process starts once detoxification has been completed, and it incorporates several methods to get the body cleaned up naturally. In other words, the purpose of cleansing is to get the body to once again produce the chemicals necessary for normal function. Drug and alcohol abuse alter the functions of the human body and brain to the point at which the natural process of creating chemicals (i.e. endorphins and dopamine) that make people feel good cease, leaving the only source for a sense of well being come from the drug(s) of abuse. The cleansing process is completely natural consisting of the continuation of victim therapy and various other elements to revitalize the human body. Some of these elements are
- Saunas – Saunas help to cleanse the body by getting the body working again through sweating our impurities. The sauna is provided as relaxing health device to help one feel better, and is not a part of the vitamin therapy.
- Hot Tubs – Hot tubs, as in any other setting, are also a great source for relaxation, circulating blood, and cleansing the body of impurities. Some types of hot tub treatments we offer are mineral baths, strictly hot water, and hydrotherapy. We encourage hot tub usage on a daily basis, specifically after a regimented work out routine tailored to each individual’s health needs and abilities in the best interest of overcoming addiction.
- Physical Fitness – One of the best things any person can do to cleanse the body is to have a cardio vascular exercise regimen to stimulate blood flow through the body. This blood flow stimulates organs like the liver, kidneys, and spleen, to do a more effective job of cleaning the blood. Our physical fitness regimen is individualized for each person, depending on their workout preferences and abilities. Individual preferences can range from martial arts, to yoga, weight training, running, and aerobics. We use professional nationally certified trainers who relate one-on-one with clients to set goals based on scientific data and what works best for each individual.
Understanding the Causes of Addiction
There are a number of things that can lead to, and exacerbate addiction, many of which go unnoticed in everyday life. Our goal at Best Choice Rehabilitation is to uncover and address these issues, teaching each addict empowerment to keep themselves safe, sober and happy after treatment has been completed.
Underlying issues are often the catalyst behind addiction, and some can go completely unnoticed throughout the course of an addict’s life. Things like
- poor self image
- low self esteem
- lack of proper communication skills
- poor assessment abilities to recognize dangerous situations and people.
All of these things can be detrimental to any person’s life so long as he or she is not aware of them. At Best Choice Rehabilitation, we explore how to recognize these deficiencies, and use an individualized approach to develop the life-saving skills that often overlooked, but can be difference between sobriety and relapse.
Other underlying issues can be the base around which an addict’s life is lived. Some examples of these types of issues are
- chronic pain
Most of these issues are often recognized by the sufferer, and in addicts, tend to be the center of their emotional existence. We work with each individual to uncover these issues, and teach solutions to overcoming them, and teaching the crucial skills necessary to keep addicts safe through awareness of themselves, their surroundings, and their triggers.
Individualized addiction treatment must be centered around the individual in order to be effective for addicts to reach their goals in recovery. It takes a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, individual therapy, and group therapy for any one person to get the complete array of treatment necessary for a strong foundation in recovery. The main aspect that sets Best Choice Rehabilitation apart from other addiction treatment programs is that we offer multiple spiritual tracks for each individual, based on his or her preferences and belief systems. Like trying to force a square peg in a round hole, one singular approach will not fit for multiple people with varying belief systems, experiences, and preferences. In addiction treatment, each individual must find his or her own personal, spiritual success, and be able to define and communicate with their own higher power. Without understanding of, and a connection to one’s own personal higher power, recovery in unlikely.
We understand that it is not up to us, nor any other treatment facility to define for anyone, who or what their higher power is, or how to refer to it. The discovery of, and connection to one’s higher power is a part of the journey to recovery from addiction, and that is why we offer multiple spiritual paths. Regardless of one’s religious or spiritual background, he or she may find solace and comfort in their recovery through a different spirituality or faith. The bottom line is whatever helps one person is the best thing for that individual, and we facilitate the path to discovering the spiritual connection for each person by offering and accommodating several presences such as
- Christian Faith
- Muslim Faith
- Jewish Faith
- Indigenous Faith
In recovery, no matter how much one has learned, grown, and healed, an addict cannot always depend on him or herself. A solid spiritual outlet guarantees a 100% greater chance at sustained recovery than without one.
Just as detoxification and the removal of drugs from the body is just the beginning of addiction treatment, the completion of treatment is the beginning of the road to recovery. The work begins when an addict leaves the safety of the walls of treatment. Even with the benefits of an open ended program that ensures each person has attained the personal goals required for returning home with no time restrictions, planning for leaving treatment is an essential part of what we do in our aftercare program. At most drug rehabilitation centers, this planning is limited to a list of meetings and support groups, followed by a handshake and “Good luck”. At Best Choice Rehabilitation, we encompass all aspects of recovery by providing each person with an aftercare specialist who develops a plan covering
- We set up where the individual will live
- We set up his or her church, or other place of spiritual and physical fitness support
- We prepare for employment, even creating resumes, and often sending them out prior to leaving treatment
- We set up counseling
- We develop a list of contacts, both professional and personal, with whom the individual maintains contact and continues their progress in recovery
All of this is done before leaving treatment because the best weapon any recovering addict can have is preparation. The same holds true for the loved ones and family members of addicts returning home. We work to be sure the individual is ready for them, and they are ready for the individual.
During addiction treatment, we help each individual to set up goals, and the purpose of our aftercare program is to help them see it through. We know the road to recovery is not going to be easy and there will be some hard times. This is why every individual’s aftercare specialist is available to them by cell phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If trouble comes along the road to recovery once outside of the treatment walls, our aftercare specialists will be able to get in touch with the contacts who support him or her, and get immediate aid for whatever is necessary, whether it’s coming back to Best Choice Rehabilitation, getting to a church, a meeting, or just sitting down and having a communication cycle with the addict and/or a loved one. We provide support, constant contact, and essential resources for every individual prior to leaving treatment, and long after they have returned home. We want every person to have the support the need to be happy, healthy, and drug free, and we implement resources to accomplish this goal at every step of our treatment program.
